Report a problem from inside the app
If something is broken, the fastest route is Menu → Report an Issue. It sends along which screen you were on, which saves a round of back-and-forth.
Reports go straight to the developer. They are not public, and nobody else can read them.
Something missing or wrong in the catalog
The coaster and park catalog is hand-curated, so it will always be a little behind the real world. Two things you can do, and they are different:
- Keep logging right now. If a coaster or park isn't there, add it yourself — Add coaster on a park's page, or Add park from search. It goes into your own collection immediately. You never have to wait for us to catch up.
- Tell us, so everyone gets it. On a park or coaster, use Suggest a correction, or Report a missing park / Report a missing coaster. Suggestions are reviewed before they go into the shared catalog, so one report doesn't overwrite a fact for everybody else.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Install Coastory and start logging — no sign-up, no email, nothing. An Account is optional and only exists to back up your history and carry it to a new phone.
I never got my sign-in code
Signing in sends a six-digit code by email — there is no password. If it hasn't arrived, check your spam folder for mail from coastory.app, then request a new code. If it still doesn't turn up, email us and we'll look at it from our side.
Are my photos backed up?
No, and that's deliberate. Photos you add to rides never leave your device — Coastory has no copy of them and never will. That also means an Account won't restore them.
Because of that, the backup bundle matters: Settings → Backup & restore writes one file holding your photos and the record of which ride each one belongs to. Your camera roll saves the pictures; only the bundle saves the pairing. Keep a copy somewhere other than your phone.
I got a new phone
Two ways, and you can use both:
- From a backup file — Settings → Backup & restore on the old phone to create one, then restore it on the new phone. This is the only route that brings your photos across.
- From your Account — if you have one, signing in on the new phone brings your ride history back. Photos are not included.
Restoring adds to whatever is already on the device rather than replacing it, unless you ask for a replacement.
How do I delete my account or my data?
See Delete your Coastory Account. In short: Settings → Backup & restore → Delete Account, or email us from the address on the Account.
Does Coastory work without a signal?
Mostly, yes — your history lives on the device, so logging a ride doesn't wait on a connection. We don't promise it, though: full offline support isn't built yet, and we'd rather say so than have you find out at the back of a park.
