You decide what counts.
Enthusiasts don’t always agree on what counts as a credit. Racing sides, re-themes, the kiddie one you rode because it was the last coaster in the park you hadn’t yet ridden - everybody draws the line somewhere different.
Coastory doesn’t draw it for you. It records what you rode, exactly as it happened, and leaves the counting to you.
Anywhere from 1 to 3. Your count, your rules. The Racer at Kings Island races a Red side and a Blue side, both straight from the catalog. Did you ride it when it raced backwards? Add that and record it as well. Three experiences on the record, counted as however many credits you say.
The facts are ours. The story is yours.
Coastory brings what can be looked up: height, drop, speed, model, ride time, the records a coaster set. Thousands of coasters from parks around the world, and growing. We’re continually adding new rides while researching the ones already here.
Everything else on the page is yours. The score, in your own words underneath it, and your own photos. Coastory ships no stock imagery and pulls none in: a coaster looks like this because you took the picture.
Kept on this device and never uploaded. The app’s own words when you add one. Your photos stay on your phone, tied to the ride they belong to, and a backup is what carries them to a new one.

Your 1st, your 10th, your 100th. Say which ride each one was and Coastory keeps the ladder as you climb it, including the one you are still counting toward.
Parks you keep coming back to
Every park counts what you’ve ridden there and what you haven’t, so a return visit has a list waiting. Give it a photo and it stops being a row in a database.
See how far you’ve been
Every country you’ve ridden in, lit up and counted. Spin it, zoom in, and tap a country to go back through the parks you visited there.

What you rode and when is recorded exactly as it happened. What it’s worth is a separate question, and that one is yours.
Everything is optional
Ratings, rankings, tiers, statistics. Use the ones you care about and ignore the rest. A park is fine untiered.
The ones that are gone still count
The catalog keeps closed and demolished coasters, with the years they ran. A credit from 1991 doesn’t disappear because the ride did.
Your history is yours
Bring your ride list in from a CSV or TSV file, see what matched, save when you say so. Write it all back out to a backup you keep, photos included.
Help shape Coastory
Coastory is built by a coaster enthusiast, for coaster enthusiasts, because the apps that already existed didn’t count the way enthusiasts actually count. It’s in private beta right now, which is the good part: you get it early, you find the weird stuff, and you get a say in what happens next.
iPhone
Through TestFlight
Join the iPhone beta- Tap the button. TestFlight opens, installing itself first if you don’t have it.
- Accept the invitation and install Coastory. That’s the whole thing.
Android
Through Google Play closed testing
Join the testers group- Join the group above. Google only lets group members opt in to the test.
- Then opt in to the test on Google Play.
- Once you’re opted in, open Coastory on Google Play and install as normal. This last link only works after step 2, because a closed test has no public listing.
Both are free, ad-free, and work without an account. There’s a Report an Issue button inside the app. It goes straight to the person building it, and it is read.
